Fix a black screen with no sound

If you experience a black screen without any audio when trying to launch a training module on Tradefox, it typically indicates a connection issue, a browser conflict, or a problem with your device’s graphics processing.

Follow the troubleshooting steps below based on the device you are using.


Web (WebGL)

If you are accessing Tradefox through a web browser on a laptop or desktop, the black screen is usually caused by the browser’s inability to render 3D content.

  • Enable Hardware Acceleration: Tradefox uses WebGL to render 3D simulations.
    1. Go to your browser Settings.
    2. Search for Hardware Acceleration.
    3. Toggle Use graphics acceleration when available to ON.
    4. Restart your browser.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your computer’s graphics card drivers (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) are up to date.
  • Check Browser Compatibility: Ensure you are using a supported browser like Chrome or Firefox. Note that some “Incognito” modes disable the necessary storage for WebGL to function.

Android

On Android, a black screen often means the app is struggling to initialize the graphics engine or is blocked by a power-saving mode.

  • Clear App Cache: 1. Go to Settings > Apps > Tradefox. 2. Tap Storage & Cache. 3. Tap Clear Cache.
  • Disable Battery Saver: Some Android devices throttle graphics performance when the battery is low or in “Power Saving Mode,” which can prevent the simulation from loading.
  • Check Play Services: Ensure Google Play Services is updated, as it manages many of the underlying 3D components for Android apps.

iOS (iPhone & iPad)

For Apple users, the issue is often related to “Webkit” constraints or temporary memory issues.

  • Force Restart the App: Swipe up from the bottom (or double-click the Home button) and slide the Tradefox app off the screen to close it completely. Reopen and try again.
  • Check Content Restrictions: If you have Screen Time or Content Restrictions enabled, ensure that “Web Content” isn’t being restricted, as this can block the downloading of simulation data.
  • Update iOS: Tradefox requires modern graphics APIs found in newer versions of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to ensure you are on the latest version.

Global Connection Check

Regardless of your device, the 3D assets in Tradefox require a strong connection to load initially.

  • Stability: If your Wi-Fi signal drops during the “Handshake” (when the screen first goes black), the simulation may fail to start.
  • Firewalls: If you are on a corporate or school network, ensure that the network allows traffic from tradefoxapp.com.
