FAQs

How to Use Tradefox on iPhone or iPad

1. Downloading the App

  • Open the App Store: Search for “Tradefox – Build Skills”.
  • Download: Tap Get. The app is approximately 315MB, but we recommend having 1GB of free space to account for the assets downloaded during complex simulations.
  • Compatibility: Ensure you are running iOS 13.0 or later (for iPhone) or iPadOS 13.0 (for iPad).

2. Mastering the Touch Controls

Since you are interacting with 3D components—like wiring a consumer unit or fitting a pipe—the controls are designed for precision:

  1. Look Around: Swipe with one finger to rotate the camera around the workspace.
  2. Focus/Zoom: Use a two-finger pinch to zoom in on small details like terminal screws or wire labels.
  3. Interact: Tap a tool in your “tool belt” to select it, then tap the component you want to work on.
  4. Haptic Feedback: On supported iPhones, you may feel subtle vibrations when a connection is successfully made or a tool is properly placed.

3. Performance Tips for Smooth Simulations

Unity simulations require more power than a social media app. To prevent “stuttering” or battery drain:

  • Close Background Apps: Double-click the Home button (or swipe up and hold) and close other apps to free up memory for the Unity engine.
  • Disable Low Power Mode: If your battery icon is yellow, your iPhone may throttle the processor, which can cause the 3D simulations to lag. Turn off “Low Power Mode” in Settings > Battery.
  • Use Landscape Mode: While the menus work in portrait, the simulations are designed for landscape. Ensure your “Rotation Lock” is off in the Control Center.

4. Managing Your Membership on iOS

  • 7-Day Free Trial: When you first join, your 7-day trial of the Tradefox Membership will be managed via your Apple ID.
  • Seamless Sync: If you switch from your iPhone to an iPad (or your Mac with an M1/M2 chip), your progress will sync automatically as long as you are logged into the same Tradefox account.
  • In-App Billing: Monthly (£9.99) or Yearly (£5.75/mo) billing is handled securely through the App Store.

Troubleshooting for Apple Users

Issue Solution
Simulations won't load Check your Wi-Fi. Unity assets are downloaded as you enter a lesson. A weak signal will pause the loading bar.
App feels hot 3D rendering is intensive. This is normal for high-performance apps, but taking a break between long modules will help the device cool down.
Sound is missing Check the "Silent" switch on the side of your iPhone. Unity audio is often tied to the "Ringer/Silent" hardware toggle.
